Trends in research funding – webinar

Join Director, Research Services, Associate Professor Michael Baker for a presentation on current trends in research funding, grants and the common pitfalls associated with competitive grant applications.

This seminar is part of the Nursing Research Institute and Allied Health Collaboration Research Seminar Series  and is open to all staff.

About the presenter
Michael Baker awarded prestigious ESSA Fellowship

Dr Baker leads ACU’s research office, supporting the university’s research intensification strategy. He holds a Bachelor and Master of Applied Science in Exercise and Sports Science and a PhD in Health Science from the University of Sydney, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from Edith Cowan University. He is a Fellow of Exercise and Sport Science Australia. Dr Baker’s research, clinical and teaching career has focused on the integration of exercise, medicine and behavioural change to improve quality of life, particularly among older adults and those living with chronic illness.

Dr Baker brings a deep understanding of research culture and processes. He has been active in all aspects of the research cycle including as a successful grant applicant and as a NHMRC panel member. He has published and presented work nationally and internationally and has presented policy recommendations and drafted position statements. In addition to his role as Director, Research Services, Associate Professor Baker continues to Chair ACU’s Human Research and Ethics Committee, a role he has held since 2018.
