Access hours

Ballarat Campus usually operates between the hours of 8:00am - 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Access outside of these hours can be arranged through the Campus Manager.

Café and catering

The Ballarat café is located in the Forbes Student Centre (Building 106). It is open daily during semester serving a wide variety of snacks, meals and drinks. In the semester breaks it has reduced hours, please contact the cafe for further information.

Campus catering can be organised through the café; please email sally@aquinascanteen.com.au to discuss your catering needs.

Nursing mothers and parenting room

Aquinas is a parent friendly campus. A room is available on campus for staff and students who need privacy with their child.

Facilities include: comfy chair, baby changing table, baby bath, play pen, high chair, fridge, sink, hot and cold water.

The Nursing Mothers and Parents' Room is located adjacent to the Student Common Room (Forbes Centre). Contact Reception for access to these facilities.

Chapel

The Chapel is available for staff and student use. Liturgies are held weekly and staff have the opportunity to become members of the Liturgy Committee and assist in the preparation of these liturgies. Staff also have the opportunity to play musical instruments or join the Campus Choir in many arranged activities throughout the University year.

Staff and students are invited to attend the Eucharist at Midday every Wednesday. Members of the campus will be advised of the times of other religious services.

Smoke free campus

ACU values the health and wellbeing of students and staff and is committed to providing a smoke free study environment. This means smoking is not permitted anywhere within ACU buildings, grounds or controlled vehicles.

Toilets are located:

  • In the Forbes Centre
  • Near High-Tech Printing
  • At the end of the 200 Block
  • In the B500 Centre
  • In the Callinan (Library) Building

 

Couriers and deliveries

To book a courier please contact Reception on (03) 5336 5300.

You will need to provide your department cost code when making the booking as the cost will be charged to your School or Department.

Pigeon holes and mail boxes

Staff mail boxes are located in the Staff Room. These are arranged alphabetically. Please check your mail box regularly to keep up-to-date with campus information.

Mail: internal and external

Incoming mail is distributed to staff mail boxes in the period 9am-10am. Outgoing mail is collected at approximately 4:00pm each day. Please ensure that all outgoing mail is deposited at the Campus Concierge desk on the ground floor of building 100 no later than 3:30pm. Campus Concierge must be advised which Faculty or Department is sending the mail item(s), to enable charge-back.

Reception

Reception is open 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday and is located in the first building on left when you enter the campus via Mair street.

Reception provides a variety of services, including:

  • Staff contact information
  • Mobile signage
  • Mail services including pickup and delivery service
  • General reception services
  • Room bookings
  • Car hire
  • Campus car bookings
  • Visitor registry
  • General info such as on site first aiders or fire/emergency wardens
  • Room hire
  • Point of contact for all Campus Operations services.

Please contact the Receptionist on 03 5336 5300 to discuss arrangements regarding mail items that need to be sent as 'Express Post', 'Couriered', 'Priority Paid', 'Certified', or 'Airmail'.

Lost property

Any lost property found on the campus should be handed to Reception. Any valuables lost or stolen should be reported to the Manager, Campus Operations on (03) 5336 5311 immediately.

Please ask at Reception if you are missing any of your property.

Cashier

Expense Claims

Claims for reimbursement of over $100.00 for approved University expenditure are made on an Expenditure Expense Claim Form, obtained from Financial Services. Your Head of School/organisational area must countersign such claims, and all receipts must be attached. Reimbursement will be made by cheque, or direct to your payroll bank account by electronic transfer to the claimant.

Petty Cash

Petty cash to the value of $100.00 can be obtained from the Finance Officer, in the Student Centre. When claiming petty cash, receipts and a Petty Cash Form authorised by your supervisor must be provided.

Cleaning

An external cleaning company cleans the Ballarat Campus every weekday. Paper recycle bins in each office are emptied once a week by cleaning staff.

Security

Campus Operations is responsible for the security of property and buildings on the Ballarat Campus.

A Security Guard is on duty each day from 7.30 am until 4.00pm and then a late shift security person takes over to 7.30pm, Monday to Friday. These Guards are available to staff and student for any security related issues. The late Guard checks lockup of the rooms and also provides an escort service from the University to the carpark when requested.

Keys and Security Codes

Heads of School or Department must give approval, in writing, prior to the staff member being given keys to enter any campus building or office. Once approval has been received, staff members will be issued keys by Facilities Operations and given instructions on accessing the security system.

Building access is via a coded card system and appropriately coded cards will be issued to staff.

Please notify Facilities Management immediately if a key or swipe card has been lost.

Stationery supplies

Stationery supplies are to be provided by individual departments and schools. There is no stationery available at Concierge.

Purchase orders

All goods and services must be ordered by means of the purchasing system. ACU uses Tech One as its Finance system; it supports the University's financial activities including electronic purchase orders. For details on Tech One, contact Finance Support from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Photocopying

Single copies or small quantity copying

Please use your workplace's photocopier when printing single copies or small quantity copying (up to 30 copies maximum).The photocopiers in your workplace are on the ACU IT network, and for this reason they are the responsibility of the IT Directorate.

Multiple or booklet copying - High Tech Printing

The printing company, High Tech Printing, is located on the Aquinas Campus in 103.G.03. High Tech Printing has a range of capabilities and services. To learn more, see the High Tech Printing website, or call them on 03 5334 4976.

Confidential Material

Facilities Management provides two confidential paper bins on campus. The bins are collected when full and the contents are shredded to ensure the information cannot be read. Confidential Bins are provided at the Concierge Desk (100.G.CR2) and Building 104.G.05.
