Properties & Facilities assists with the incoming and outgoing mail for staff on campus.

Incoming mail

A Facility Assistant is responsible for collecting and sorting the mail for delivery to each department. Each campus has one mail delivery run a day.

Outgoing mail

During the daily mail delivery run, Facility Assistants will collect any outgoing mail from departments and internal mail boxes. Staff are asked to ensure that letters are placed in ACU postage paid or express post envelopes.

Courier delivery

Properties & Facilities ensures delivery is for a person located at campus, receives the parcel, and notifies the staff member by email. Any parcels under 15kg are to be collected by the receiver, who will be notified via Service Central. Any parcel (or combination of parcels) over 15kg will be delivered by a Facility Assistant.

The Facilities Hub is located in the main entry lobby of the Blackfriars Building and is attended by either Facilities Administration or Security between 9am – 4pm.

Our Concierge staff can be contacted on (07) 3623 7272 during business hours. Service requests can also be raised through the Service Central Portal.

Lost property

Lost property is held at the Facilities Hub in the Blackfriars Building. If you find any lost property on campus please hand it into Facilities Hub personnel.

Cleaning

Cleaning is carried out on campus by Facilities First.

Cleaners carry out the bulk of the cleaning between 6am-5pm Monday to Friday. Office bins are emptied daily if left in the corridor outside office overnight, and offices are vacuumed once a week, assuming the floor space is not cluttered. Assignment boxes

Assignment boxes for the Schools of Education, Theology and Social Work are located in the Ground Floor cloister of the Blackfriars Building, outside PC Lab 300.G.22.

Assignment boxes for the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine are located in the central corridor of the Health Sciences lab area, Ground Floor, Signadou Building.

Lecture rooms

Food and drink (water aside) should not be consumed in Learning Spaces. Rooms should be left clean and in the same configuration as found. Please ensure that all lights, IT equipment and air conditioning are turned off when vacating space.

Security

A security guard is available on campus from 8am – 9pm Monday to Friday and 12pm – 6pm Saturday and Sunday.

Campus Security can be contacted on 02 6209 1108.

The security guard will provide escort to your vehicle of an evening if you feel unsafe. Please contact security on the above number for assistance in this regard.

Any security calls outside of these hours automatically divert to our National Security Centre in Sydney.

All CCTV, security alarms and fire alarms are monitored by the National Security Centre 24/7.

Keys and staff cards

Staff office keys are available from the Facilities Hub. Office keys are issued following authorisation from relevant Supervisor or Head of School.

ACU staff card

Campus Buildings are open from 7:30am – 9pm Mon-Fri. All General staff cards have out of hours building access built in. If you need out of hours access and are unsure of these procedures, please speak to Campus Security.

Maintenance

All non-urgent maintenance requests should be made via Service Central at staff.acu.edu.au/servicecentral or by phoning (07) 3623 7272.

Recreation facilities

Swimming pool

There is a saltwater, solar heated swimming pool available on campus for staff and student use.

Hours of use for the pool by students are 8:00am – 7:00pm Monday to Friday and 12:30pm – 5:30pm Saturday & Sunday. Staff can use the pool at any time and access the area either via the changing rooms or Health Sciences labs (during business hours) or by using your staff card at the changing room entrances (out of hours or at weekends). Immediate family is welcome, however children must be attended by an adult at all times.

There is no life guard provision at our pool. Staff and students swim at their own risk. Please be aware of any warning signs relating to depth of water and expected behaviours when using the pool.

Glass items are not permitted in the pool area at any times. Please put any rubbish in the bins provided.

Other facilities

A new, multi purpose sports court offering fussball, basketball and netball is currently under construction on the east side of the Signadou Building and will be open for use in Semester 1 2022.

There is a pool table available for use in the Student Association area on the Ground Floor of the Blackfriars Building.

Lockers

Lockers are available for use during each semester and are located on the ground floor of both buildings. Please report to the Facilities Hub to obtain a locker.

Cafe

Yala Café is located on the ground floor in the Veritas Building (Building 301). It is open daily during semester serving a wide variety of snacks, meals and drinks. In the semester breaks it has reduced hours, please contact the cafe for further information.

Campus catering can be organised through the café; please email cafeyalaacu@gmail.com. to discuss your catering needs.

Chapel

The Signadou Chapel is open at all times during the semester for quiet prayer. A campus Mass is celebrated on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 12:30pm each week. The Rosary is to be prayed on Wednesdays at 1pm, and Eucharistic Adoration will take place from 11.30am-12.30pm on Thursdays.

The Chapel is available for weddings and baptisms for staff, current and former students. Contact Campus Ministry for further details on (02) 6209 1150.

Nursing mothers’ and parenting room

Signadou is a parent friendly campus. A room is available on the ground floor in the Blackfriars building for staff and student use. Contact the Facilities Hub for key access to these facilities.

Facilities include: baby changing table, microwave, fridge, sink, hot and cold water.

Smoke free campus

ACU values the health and wellbeing of students and staff and is committed to providing a smoke free study environment. This means smoking is not permitted anywhere within ACU buildings, grounds or controlled vehicles.

Kitchen/staff lounge

There are kitchen/staff lounges located on the first floor of the Blackfriars buildings and the second floor of the Signadou Building

Facilities include a fridge, microwave, stove, sandwich maker, urn and dishwasher. Please be mindful to clean these facilities after use. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk are supplied by Facilities.

Stationery

Academic staff can obtain stationery by placing an order through their School administrative staff. General staff should contact their supervisors. 

Printing/photocopying

Document Centres for printing/scanning/photocopying are located throughout the campus. You can log onto these devices my using an allocated Pin or by linking the PIN to your Staff Card.

Confidential material

Secure confidential waste bins are available on campus. Bins are located in the photocopy areas of both Staff Rooms. Extra bins are available on request and can be ordered via Service Central at staff.acu.edu.au/servicecentral or by phoning (07) 3623 7272.

Non-confidential paper recycle bins are also located in the Staff Room areas and available on request via Service Central at staff.acu.edu.au/servicecentral or by phoning (07) 3623 7272.

School Locker

The School Locker is the preferred ACU textbook and branded merchandise supplier, with retail stores on ACU campuses. Purchases can be made instore or online.
