Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Perspectives

Jennifer Newman, Doctoral Student, Institute for Social Justice

Thursday September 7 2017
12pm to 1pm (AEDST)

In this Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Perspectives information session Jennifer Newman discusses the movement towards recognition in Australia, from past efforts on constitutional amendment to the Uluru Statement from the Heart.  From an Indigenist discourse analysis, with a strong narrative turn, Jennifer proposes a new idea of engagement on the strength of reciprocal principles, rather than compromise between adversarial powers.

This session will be conducted via video conference at all campuses and there is no cost for attendance. Please be in your local campus video conference room five minutes prior to the starting time.
