Signup groups in LEO to allow students to choose their own groups that you have created in your unit.

How to create Signup Groups in LEO

  1. Navigate to your unit in LEO.
  2. Click the Participants link in the unit menu in the Navigation panel:

  3. Click the Cog icon on the Participants page and choose Groups from the dropdown menu:

  4. Select the Signup groups tab.
  5. Click the Create signup group button.
  6. Give the group a name, e.g. "Signup group 1", set the maximum number of members (optional), then click Save changes.
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until you have the required number of groups.

When students enter the LEO unit, they will be able to click the Signup groups link in the unit navigation menu. A student may then:

  • Select a group to join.
  • View the members already in a group.
  • Leave a group to join another.

If a particular signup group has reached its maximum number of members, the student will be unable to join that group.

Signup groups may also be added into a grouping to keep them restricted to certain activities or group member. For more information, please see LEO Guides: How to create Groupings.

By default, students may only enrol themselves in one signup group.

To allow them to enrol in more than one, you can change the unit settings to allow this:

  1. Navigate to your unit in LEO.
  2. Click the Cog icon to open the Unit Administration menu, and choose Edit settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Groups settings and check the Allow students to join more than one signup group option.
  4. Click the Save and display button to save your changes.
