Groups and groupings enable you to restrict an activity or resource in your LEO unit to specific users. Using the Add restriction settings, you can make an activity or resource available only to the assigned members of a group or grouping.

Before you being, make sure you have created the required groups and groupings in your unit:

How to restrict access to an activity

Restricting access to a group makes that activity only available to members of that group. Restricting access to a grouping makes that activity only available to members in groups that exist inside that grouping.

You can set restrictions from the settings page for that activity or resource:

1. Create a new activity or resource, or edit the settings of an existing one.
2. In the activity or resource settings, click the Restrict access heading to expand the section.
3. Click the Add restriction button.
4. A popup box will appear with several options. Choose either the Group or Grouping options:
   
5. The popup box will close, and dropdown box will enable you to choose the group or grouping to restrict access to:
   

• From the first dropdown box, choose if the student must or must not be part of the chosen Group or Grouping to access the activity or resource.
• From the second dropdown box select the Group or Grouping that you want to apply the access restriction to.
• The eye icon to the left of the Group dropdown options controls whether the activity or resource is visible to those who do not have access to it. If the eye icon is open (as in the image above), this means that if a user does not meet the conditions you have set, they will still be able to see the activity/resource, but they will not be able to click on it. You can click on the eye icon it will change to an eye with a strike through it, which means that the link to the activity or resource will be completely invisible to users who do not meet the conditions you've set.

7. Click Save and return to unit when you are done.

Note: you can add further restrictions by clicking the Add restriction button again, then adding another group or grouping.
