ACU understands the importance of providing effective family-friendly workplace practices and practical support for parents.
ACU is recognised for its generous and flexible parental leave provisions, which are considered to be leading practice across all industries. The University’s leave provisions support both birth parents and their partners, and also provide support for adoptive and foster parents. Read Professor Justin Kemp's story - Justin accessed ACU’s parental leave in a part-time arrangement to become a stay-at-home dad.
The Supporting Parents at ACU Information Kit is designed to help staff members and their supervisors manage parental leave and the transition to new parental responsibilities. It contains three planning checklists which help to guide the conversation between a staff member and their supervisor about organising parental leave. The Supporting Parents at ACU Information Kit has been created to help plan the transition between the phases of parental leave and returning to work.
ACU has partnered with Care Corporate/Care for Kids to provide staff with an easy to use, web based service that assists staff with identifying suitable child care options. Visit the ACU Child Care Referral Service page for more information.
