Initiating your project the right way will help you to “right-size” it and get the most appropriate process support relevant to the change you are proposing to implement.

In general, delivering change has three main stages to it: initiate – implementembed. This page introduces the key steps and decision points in initiating a change. The purpose of the initiation is to secure a strong definition and buy-in, ensure the alignment with ACU goals, and gain approval to implement the change.

The initiation is owned and driven by the Executive Sponsor, the senior manager or executive who will own the success of the outcome. Typically, this is the role accountable in the University for that service or area.

This model applies to all business and IT projects and is applied to academic and enterprise projects (e.g. those initiated by LTC or faculty management). Research and P&F projects follow their own models.

Please submit your improvement idea using the IT Expert Advice form in Service Central. The IT Engagement & Partnership and Service Improvement Team (SIT) will triage the idea with you to find the best path forward for it. If your idea is likely to form a project, the Portfolio Projects Office (PPO) or IT will guide you in the defining the project. The relevant templates you can find here.

The full project delivery lifecycle process is available in ProMapp.
