The most sustainable modes of transport are those known as active transport: walking and cycling. The next best is public transport and then, sharing a ride in a car with a colleague or fellow student. The most unsustainable form of commuting is to travel as the single occupant of a car.

Public transport

For more information about public transport options, visit our campus transport pages:

Carpooling

ACU encourages all students and staff to carpool if possible.

Why not talk to your colleagues and classmates - if they travel the same way as you carpooling could be a great way to save money and cut your carbon footprint.

Cycling

If you are interested in cycling to campus, see below for further information about cycling in your city.

Ballarat

The City of Ballarat provides an online TravelSmart Map, which includes maps and details of cycling around that city.

Brisbane

The City of Brisbane has set up a dedicated website for cyclists in that city. The website contains a detailed map of cycle routes throughout the city.

Canberra

The ACT government has developed a website with comprehensive information for cycling and walking throughout Canberra. The site includes a detailed map of bike paths and suggested bike routes for commuters.

Melbourne

A series of comprehensive online bicycle maps are available from the Vic Roads website. The maps cover the whole of the metropolitan area so they can help you plan your route to and from St Patrick’s Campus, no matter where you live.

Sydney

The City of Sydney website provides a range of information and services for cyclists, including maps.

You can also find excellent cycling information on the websites of the North Sydney City Council and the Strathfield City Council, with very useful information for the locations closest to our Sydney campuses.
