2019 Teaching Development Grant Winners - Round 2

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Innovation) Professor Zlatko Skrbis, congratulates faculty staff who have been awarded ACU Teaching Development Grants in Round 2, 2019.  We are pleased to see the commitment of so many staff to improving access and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in higher education.

The Awards and Grants Committee received nine high quality competitive proposals with a focus on building cultural capacity through the creation of culturally appropriate learning environments and the development of culturally competent graduates.

The committee prioritised four projects for funding.

Applications covered a broad range of topics including embedding principles of Indigenised learning, Indigenous approaches to higher education and culturally protective practices and safe pedagogy.

The successful 2019 ACU Teaching Development Grant proposals in Round 2 are:
  • Dr Katarina Tuinamuana and team, Faculty of Education and Arts: Indigenous approaches to higher education pedagogy: Developing a sustainable intercultural approach at the ‘cultural interface.
  • Dr Kimberley Wilson and team, Faculty of Education and Arts: Embedding principles of Indigenised learning into science education curriculum at ACU.
  • Dr Amelia Wheeler and team, Faculty of Health Sciences: Culturally responsive child protection practice.
  • Associate Professor Joanna Zubrzycki and team, Faculty of Health Sciences: Culturally safe pedagogy and classrooms.
