When preparing your unit, a good place to start is the Technology Selector. This is an easy-to-use visual reference about various applications in LEO and how to configure and integrate them into your teaching practice.
The ACU theme can be used to guide your unit format and style. For more information about the ACU template, please see LEO Guides: ACU theme and template.
A template unit is also available in LEO. Navigate to ACU LEO template guide 2021 and enter your ACU credentials then click the "Enter" button to self-enrol in the unit.
EXAMPLE 1: INFORMATION AND RESOURCES
Students need to locate essential information about the unit of study in one location including a link to reading lists, details about their teaching staff and where to locate online class/lecture recordings and tutorial links.
EXAMPLE 2: COMMUNICATION AND SUPPORT
Communication provides access to important announcements or discussion forums to ask questions about aspects of their study. Links to a range of support services can assist students in their learning, such as Academic Skills Unit, 24/7 study support. ASKACU. Library support and LEO support.
EXAMPLE 3: ASSESSMENTS
Assessment often comes with specific instruction or resources needed to complete them. Using Labels to organise your content, as well as logical placement of assignment links under each heading can make tasks more understandable to students.
EXAMPLE 4: WEEKS, MODULES, TOPICS
Week, modules or topics provide essential information about activities and resources to support student learning. Think about the "why" and "what" they are doing that week. Include links to supporting lecture content and activities and/or tutorial information. Labels can create a clear and consistent structure and language to reflect the discipline, which can be repeated throughout the unit tiles for each week/module/topic.
The LEO Text Editor has a range of styles you can use to format your content. For more options, please see the following links:
