Rubrics and grading forms you create in the Rubric Manager may only be edited by you. If the rubric attached to an assignment you're editing the settings of belongs to another instruction, you may detach that rubric and attach your own, but you cannot edit it.

How to share rubrics and grading forms

In order to share a Turnitin rubric or grading form with a colleague you must export it as a file and give it to your colleague, who may then import it into their own Rubric Manager.

To share the downloaded rubric file you may wish to:

  • Email the file to your colleague.
  • Upload it to the Files section of a Teams channel.
  • Insert it as a downloadable file in your LEO unit (making sure it is hidden from students).

How to export a rubric or grading form

  1. Launch the Rubric Manager from the Turnitin Assignment settings.
  2. Click the menu button in the top-left of the Rubric Manager and select the rubric or grading form you wish to export.
  3. Once loaded, click the Import/Export Options button in top-right corner of the Rubric Manager and choose Export.

  4. Save the file to your computer.

You may now share this file with a colleague via email or another method. This file is a .RBC format file and can only be opened in the Turnitin Rubric Manager.

How to import a rubric or grading form

  1. Launch the Rubric Manager from the Turnitin Assignment settings.
  2. Click the Import/Export Options button and choose Import:

  3. Click the Select Files button, then choose the .RBC file on your computer you wish to import.
  4. If successfully uploaded, your rubric or grading form should be listed with a green tick.
  5. Click the Back button to return to the Rubric Manager:

Your imported rubric or grading form should now appear in the list under the menu.

How to import an excel template rubric

  • Download the excel template document.
  • Fill in the required criteria and feedback cells in the excel template document.
  • Launch the Rubric Manager from the Turnitin Assignment settings.
  • Click the Import/Export options button and choose Import.
  • Click the Select Files button, then choose the Excel file on your computer you wish to import.
  • If successfully uploaded your rubric should be listed with a green tick.
  • Click the Back button to return to the Rubric Manager, your rubric should appear in your library.

Note: the rubric will be imported as a Qualitative rubric. Refer to How to create a rubric for more information about how to edit an imported rubric.
