Academic skills unit

A self-guided resource. It can be accessed at any time via LEO.

  • Improve your skills across a range of areas such as time management, setting study priorities, planning and reading.
  • At uni you will work on a variety of writing tasks that require many different skills. We can help you to improve your academic writing.
  • Learn the basics of different referencing systems and how you can include referencing in your assignment preparation.
  • Use our resources to build your knowledge and proficiency in the core maths concepts you need.
  • Get tips and tools to help you develop the skills you need before, during and after exams.

Student support unit

A self-guided resource. It can be accessed at any time via LEO. Includes opportunities to try activities:

  • find a highlighted date in your calendar
  • practice a quiz and how to view results
  • practice uploading an assignment
  • practice submitting a test assignment to Turnitin.
  • practice uploading an ePortfolio assignment

Self-enrol in the student support unit

Students can manually self-enrol into some LEO units, such as Academic Skills or Studying Online. There may also be self-enrolment units that compliment your other teaching units. You should usually receive an email from your teacher that contains a direct link to the unit, where you can enrol yourself.

To self-enrol in a unit:

  1. Click the unit link provided to you.
  2. When prompted, log into LEO using your ACU credentials.
  3. Ensure this is the correct unit by reading the name of the unit under the Details heading:

  4. Click the Enter button:

    Note: you may be required to enter a key (password) here to access the unit, which should have been provided to you.

You will be enrolled in the unit and taken to the unit home page. This unit will now appear in the My units section in the navigation menu.

ACU provides email and telephone support services for students and staff through its educational technology partner Androgogic, also known as LEO Support.

How to contact LEO Support

  1. Log into LEO.
  2. Click the Help button at the top-right of the screen:

  3. Fill in the form with as much information as you can about the problem you're having, and include a screen capture of the issue or any errors you are receiving, then submit the help request.

The Support Desk operating times are:

  • Monday to Friday, 8am - 10pm (Sydney Time).
  • Weekends and NSW Public Holidays, 9am - 5pm (Sydney Time).
  • Closed: Good Friday and Christmas.
