Every unit taught at ACU must have an online presence in LEO.

A unit must include at a minimum a PDF document of the unit outline, as it our legal contract with our student on what will be taught and how it will be assessed in your unit. Other items to consider include the communication strategy, using tools such as the Announcements forum, an assessment outline and assessment activities including quizzes and online assignment drop-boxes, a link to the lecture recordings in the unit, plus readings, learning activities and other resources.

If you are a lecturer in charge (LIC) of a unit it is your responsibility to ensure that the unit in LEO exists, it is relevant, and it is up-to-date.

For an easy-to-use visual reference about various applications in LEO, how they are configured, and how you can integrate them in your teaching practices, refer to the technology selector tool.

Lecturers in Charge of a LEO unit

A Lecturer-in-charge will have the role of an Editing Lecturer in a LEO unit, meaning they can add and edit resources and activities in the LEO unit.

The balance between online and face to face will be dependent on the mode of delivery (attendance, blended or fully online), as well as your school's guidelines and your own ideas and level of experience teaching with Technologies for Enhanced Learning (TEL). For more information regarding mode of delivery refer to Blended learning and study modes.

LEO units are either built from a template provided by your faculty, or they can be copied from a previous semester. For more information regarding creation of new units refer to Your units: create a new unit.

Tutors in a LEO unit

A tutor will not normally have editing rights in LEO, and will have the Lecturer role. A lecturer role is able to view the content of a LEO unit, mark student work, send announcements and participate in forums.

The sections linked to this page Lecture-in-charge responsibilities and Tutor responsibilities contain more information about specific roles in LEO, plus links to key features you may be responsible for.
