North Sydney CBD is now smoke free

North Sydney CBD is now smoke free.

The North Sydney Council implemented the smoking ban as of Monday 28 October.

The ban includes both cigarettes and vaping and means smokers will no longer be able to smoke in public places in the North Sydney CBD, however will still be able to smoke on private property.

The ban covers the area bounded by Blue Street, Arthur Street, Pacific Highway and Ridge Street.

The council is installing footpath stickers to advise workers, residents and visitors that the area is smoke free and will promote the ban through news outlets, railway billboard advertising and social media.

Please be mindful of this ban when in the North Sydney CBD and smoke free area.

The university has its own Smoke Free Policy and joined many other Australian universities in becoming a tobacco-free university from 1 July 2015.

ACU is a smoke free workplace and this applies to all people who enter university property, facilities, premises and open space including staff, students, visitors, volunteers, and contractors.

ACU is committed to providing staff, students, visitors, volunteers and contractors with a productive, safe and healthy working and learning environment that protects all from injury, workplace-related illness and potential hazards to their wellbeing.

NSW Health has a number of resources available for people who would like to quit smoking.
