“Almost half (45%) Australians will experience a mental illness in their lifetime” (AIHW, 2018). In line with our Mission and Values, and in support of staff wellbeing, ACU is making a two-day Mental Health First Aid workshop available to staff at our Melbourne and Canberra campuses who want to develop their knowledge about mental illness. Participants will learn about mental illness and how to assist someone who may be developing mental health difficulties or who may be experiencing a mental health crisis.
Register early to avoid missing out on this opportunity.
Participants will learn the signs and symptoms of mental illness, where and how to get help for those who experience these issues, and what sort of assistance is effective. The program covers information on the steps involved to provide ‘Mental Health First Aid’ which is the help provided to someone in distress until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.
All staff wanting to develop their knowledge about mental illness and gain confidence in supporting others in their workplace, community and personal networks who may be experiencing mental health difficulties.
