Association of Tertiary Education Management Institutional Coordinator

You are invited to express an interest in becoming an ATEM Institutional Coordinator.

As an ACU staff member, you will play a pivotal role in supporting staff by being an institutional contact for ATEM and actively promoting ATEM activities and member benefits.

About ATEM

ATEM is the only professional association for administrators and managers working in tertiary education in Australasia. It is dedicated to advancing professional practice. The Association provides members with an edge in their professional activities and gives them a voice in their areas of expertise in the wider tertiary environment.

ATEM believes that tertiary administrators and managers are people who make a vital contribution to the central aims of their institutions. ATEM promotes and believes in the worth and value of the profession of tertiary administration and management.

Institutional Coordinators

There are three ATEM institutional coordinator positions available:

  • Victoria (representing Melbourne & Ballarat campuses); ATEM Bass region
  • NSW/ACT (representing Sydney, Strathfield & Canberra campuses); ATEM NSW/ACT region
  • Queensland (representing Brisbane campus); ATEM QLD region

Coordinators will be appointed for a term of between two and three years.

Commitment required

One of the key roles of the ATEM Institutional Coordinator is to provide an institutional contact for ATEM and to actively promote ATEM activities and member benefits to ACU staff. This can involve:

  • working collaboratively with other Institutional Coordinators
  • distributing professional education and training information
  • assisting with the organisation of specific gatherings to promote networking and professional development
  • attending meetings
  • reporting on institutional activities to the region; ATEM Regional Chairs and Manager Capability & Development

Time release of three hours per month will be provided to support you in the role.

A range of resources are in place to support the work of Institutional Coordinators; this support will be provided by the ATEM regions and ATEM centrally.  You will also receive support and guidance from the Manager Capability & Development as well as the ACU ATEM Governance Committee.

As an Institutional Coordinator you will be supporting your colleagues by organising and promoting professional development activities.  In exchange for being the Coordinator you will have an opportunity to be an ATEM member and be acknowledged by ATEM; you will also have the opportunity to attend ATEM events.
