Following a successful February Orientation, preparations are well underway to welcome students commencing in mid-year to ACU.
Student feedback from the February Orientation was overwhelmingly positive. A number of improvements to the February Orientation program were made based on student feedback from the 2016 Orientation programs. Improvements included streamlining the offering of sessions, increasing on campus activities and ensuring consistency in program offerings across campuses. Student evaluations demonstrated high levels of satisfaction with the ‘Welcome to ACU’ session, the ‘Course Introduction’ sessions and the activities offered during the morning tea and lunch breaks. Careful planning and collaboration across Schools, Faculties and departments ensured these improvements were implemented successfully.
Each year, we seek feedback from students about their Orientation experience. Of particular note from the data collected about the February, 2017 Orientation was the high value that students place on meeting and interacting with academic and other University staff during Orientation. Student evaluations acknowledged the welcoming and friendly nature of the University.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students, Learning and Teaching) Professor Anne Cummins extends a warm invitation to staff to join in Orientation during session morning breaks and lunchtimes. This is the time students will be enjoying mingling, social and sport activities, entertainment.
You will be welcome to join colleagues at Orientation information booths, or just chat to students or participate in the activities. T-shirts will be available at the DiscoverU booths – these will help students identify you.
