Support in difficult times

ACU is committed to the emotional and physical wellbeing of its staff, and has resources available to help support you during difficult times.

The University provides an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which gives staff free access to a confidential professional counselling service provided by AccessEAP.

The service can provide counseling 24 hours a day to ACU staff members* and their immediate families. You can contact EAP 24/7 on 1800 818 728.

The EAP can provide counselling sessions (in person or over the phone) to staff members and their immediate family who are facing personal and/or work-related issues. The service is free, voluntary and confidential.  ACU provides three one-hour counselling sessions per calendar year.  As the EAP is designed to be a short-term intervention for immediate concerns, if you require further assistance, your counsellor may refer you to an external agency, or arrange for you to continue your sessions in a private capacity.

* Excluding casual staff.

Further resources

ACU staff can access a range of resources in the Client Area of the AccessEAP website by creating an employee login using your ACU email address.

AccessEAP also has a factsheet which can be useful when offering to support to someone who has been affected by a traumatic event.
