Use this guide if you would like to create a unit from a faculty template and link your new unit to a student Banner cohort. Students WILL be enrolled in this unit.

View the above video How to create a new Banner unit from a faculty template on Echo360.

  1. From the LEO Homepage, click the Create new or copy unit link in the Unit creation block.
  2. On the Unit Creation page, firstly:
    • Select the Create a new unit option.
    • Select your Faculty from the dropdown list.
  3. Then a list of templates will appear below. For the template you wish to use, click the Choose button:
    Choose template for new unit
  4. Under the Banner unit? heading, select Yes:
    Yes for Banner Unit
  5. A popup window will appear. Using the dropdown options presented, choose your Campus, Section, Year and Semester, and Unit Code Prefix. This will make a list of matching units appear below it. For the student cohort you wish to add to this unit, click the Choose button:
Setting the cohort options and choosing a cohort
Note: If you cannot find the cohort you are looking for, try choosing a different Campus or Section, as some cohorts are categorised differently in Banner.
  6. Under the New unit details heading, modify the Full name, Short name and Start date fields as appropriate. The defaults for Banner units are usually fine.
  7. If you need to add additional student cohorts to this unit, as in the case of national units, click the Add more students to this unit button to repeat the cohort selection process and return to this screen.
  8. When finished, click the Create button to create the unit. This can take some time to complete, and will take you to the settings page for the unit when finished.
  9. Adjust your unit settings as required, then click the Save and display button.

For more information on unit settings, please see LEO Guides: Unit settings.
