Equella provides a central location for storage and access of your learning and teaching resources.

You can access Equella through LEO to upload resources and share them in your LEO units.

What can you do with Equella?

  • Upload resources into Equella and link to them from your LEO units.
  • Update your resources in Equella, which are instantly updated in any units that link to them.
  • Collaborate with your colleagues by sharing ownership and editing rights of your resources.
  • Create new versions of resources and restore previous versions if required.

Equella supports an extensive variety of file formats, such as Word, PDF, PowerPoint, image, video, audio, and ZIP files.

How to use Equella

Understanding items, resources and collections

Put simply, you can create an item in Equella that has several resources in it, then link to these resources individually from your LEO unit.

The terminology used in Equella includes:

  • resource, which may be a Word document, PDF, audio file, or any other digital asset.
  • An item, which holds one or more resources, and functions much like a "folder" for these resources.
  • collection, which is a category where items may be stored. Your LEO role determines which collections you have access to.

An item may contain all the resources for a unit you're teaching, or just the resources for a particular week, if you wish. You can create as many items as you want, and put as many or as few resources into each item as required.
