A message from the Chief Operating Officer Dr Stephen Weller.
Due to COVID-19, ACU has developed protocols for working remotely.
The university remains open to staff and students and we are working to re-design campus-based delivery of units to modes that support social distancing and online delivery where feasible.
However, we recognise that there are staff who may need to request remote working arrangements during the current circumstances.
The Protocol for working remotely during COVID-19 outline:
Where appropriate, staff may submit a request to work remotely. Where multiple staff from the same organisational unit submit requests to work remotely, prioritisation will be in line with the Fair Work Act and Right to request Flexible Working Arrangements. Consideration also includes:
All work from home applications will be considered by the relevant member of the executive.
Staff who submit a request to work remotely must have internet access and access to equipment, including a home work station. The university will not provide equipment to work remotely. Visit the ‘How do I work from home?’ knowledge article on Service Central to determine whether you will be able to work from home effectively before submitting a request.
Please note that the following will not be considered as reasons to request a remote working arrangement:
Leave provisions are available to support staff who seek time off work including annual leave, long service leave, leave without pay and flexible arrangements, including modifying start and finish times.
To request a remote working arrangement please complete the Working from Home Agreement.
Submit your completed request to your relevant member of the executive (ie, your director, executive dean etc). If your request is approved you must also submit a copy of the signed form to Service Central via the general enquiry form.
The university has developed Tips for working better whilst working remotely to support staff who have working from home arrangements.
The tips include advice on keeping informed, preparing to work from home, maintaining work health and safety, and staying connected.
Please continue to stay informed by reading the regular ACU Announcements sent via email and visiting the FAQs on the ACU website, which are regularly updated.
